A daredevil ski adventurer risked frostbite and winds of more than 100mph to become Britain’s highest altitude female skier. Suzy Madge became the first person to ascend and then ski down 8 200m (27 000ft) Cho Oyo. The 35 year old developed snow blindness and frostbite during he descent of the Tibetan peak….the sixth highest in the world.
Suzy together with expedition partner Squash Falconer also had to dodge trigger-happy border guards in the dark.
She said: “We were lucky because if they had heard us I’m sure they would have shot us.” Suzy Madge added that, “It was incredibly hard work. My eye is getting better now but it was a bit scary.”
