A survey has revealed that the number of trips to Peru has doubled in a year, as British holidaymakers escape the strong euro for cheaper destinations. Peru has been described as the ideal trip for those with a sense of adventure and enthusiasm for ancient cultures. A survey has shown that there has been a 98 per cent increase in reservations for 2009.
The Jordanian capital Amman came second, and has seen a rise of 79 per cent in bookings compared with the same time last year, whilst Cairo, Egypt has seen a rise of 76 per cent.
Peru’s tourism industry is booming. Visits to Machu Picchu, Peru’s top tourist destination, have more than doubled in the last decade to 800,000 people.
Machu Picchu is the place I would want to visit in Peru, I hope I will be able to save up money for what will be a holiday of my life. I have heard a lot of beautiful things about this area, no wonder Peru has seen such a rise in visitors to the country.
