Goldtrail travel the British tour operator specialising in holidays to Turkey and Greece has collapsed leaving thousands of holidaymakers stranded abroad.
Goldtrail travel based in New Malden, Surrey has gone into administration.
Goldtrail travell operated flights and holiday packages from many UK airports, and it sold mainly through travel agents.

There is nothing so annoying like being caught up in those long check-in queues at the airport. Worse when you are the boss of that travel company.
Philip Meeson the chief executive of Jet2Holidays.com , launched a very public expletive-ridden attack on sluggish check-in staff when he became frustrated by the length of the queue while carrying out a ‘spot check’ visit at Manchester airport.
He is reported to have marched to the desk and began his verbal assault on his staff, using a string of four-letter words and gaining the applause of many passengers stuck in the queue.
The upset staff called police who warned the abusive man about his future conduct and behavior.
Mr Meeson later said “We are family-friendly, we’re a leisure company taking people on holiday and I don’t want customers having to queue”.
I just hope after experiencing the pain of waiting in long queues, Mr Meeson is going to do something about his company’s check-in staff to speed up the process.

I have been reading a newspaper report which say that experts have called for an increase in flight taxes, so that air travel will become expensive and this will lead to a fall in the number of airline passengers.
The Committee on Climate Change says the fare increases would deter people from flying and would ensure carbon emissions from aviation are reduced. I understand the need to ‘Go Green’ and save the climate, but is this proposed increase on flight taxes going to result in less air travellers?
There is no doubt this flight tax increase will raise more money for the government. Is the money going to be used to save the environment? I hope it will be used for that purpose.
An increase in the cost of air travelling may mean less airline passengers, but what are the alternatives? Is it just a matter of stopping people from travelling between countries? Or, there should be an alternative, ‘Greener’ form of travelling? Maybe we should consider ‘Cruising’, but that takes ages.
The British government recommends; Video or Teleconferencing, instead of flying to business meetings, taking a holiday within the UK or taking one longer holiday which will have a lower impact than going on several short trips if you are flying each time.
So, is expensive air travel the answer to solving the climate problem like the experts seem to suggest? How else can we reduce the carbon foot-print of air travelling?

Rail travellers in London face fresh travel chaos after more strikes by train drivers were announced today in a row over pay and working conditions.
Passengers face a week of without train services after drivers on the National Express East Anglia franchise rejected a pay deal. Members of train drivers union Aslef at National Express East Anglia will walk out for a week from September 21.

Last month there was travel chaos in London when rail workers staged a series of strikes, which ended after a new deal with their employers. The rails drivers union Aslef reports that it’s members had refused to accept the deal.
This rail strike is once again going to cause trouble for passengers between London and Essex, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
