Rail travellers in London face fresh travel chaos after more strikes by train drivers were announced today in a row over pay and working conditions.
Passengers face a week of without train services after drivers on the National Express East Anglia franchise rejected a pay deal. Members of train drivers union Aslef at National Express East Anglia will walk out for a week from September 21.

Last month there was travel chaos in London when rail workers staged a series of strikes, which ended after a new deal with their employers. The rails drivers union Aslef reports that it’s members had refused to accept the deal.
This rail strike is once again going to cause trouble for passengers between London and Essex, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

From September 14, British travellers will be cruising down the highway in the iconic American Greyhound buses. FirstGroup said the buses would be running from London Victoria to Portsmouth and Southampton.
Tickets will cost from as little as £1, with the average journey costing £7. The hourly buses will take just under two hours non-stop and will offer free Wi-Fi, power sockets for each passenger, air conditioning, complimentary newspapers and leather seats.
If the introduction of the Greyhound buses makes our journeys more comfortable, I love this….especially Wi-Fi on board. Hope there will be a little bit more leg room for some of us with long legs.

London beat Lake District and Cornwall to be crowned as UK’s top “staycation” holiday destination. More than a fifth of British families will be spending a week sightseeing in London this year, according to a new survey. London Mayor Boris Johnson said: “London is a fantastic city to visit at any time of the year.”
“As well as museums, galleries and iconic attractions that are among the greatest in the world, we’ve unrivalled theatre and world class performance.
“We’ve some of the hippest bars and clubs and a multitude of places to eat out, whether you want Michelin-starred fine dining or delicious ethnic food from around the world.
“But London is also a great value destination. Not only are most of our museums and galleries free, there are glorious parks and open spaces, free outdoor theatre and live performance, and a variety of family friendly festivals.”

Rail passengers in London using Oyster pay-as-you-go will pay up to twice as much for journeys than Tube customers. What a rip off!
Pay-as-you-go Oyster will be allowed on almost all suburban rail routes in London. Tube fares will be far cheaper than rail prices. London Mayor Boris Johnson says he could not guarantee passengers using Oyster on the overground network will pay the same as Underground travellers.

But it’s going to cost a few quid more from the current prices. Britain’s first 140mph train, the Javelin pulled away from St Pancrass Station in London on it’s way to Kent with special guests on board.
The service will link Central London and Ebbsfleet in north Kent and Ashford. Apparently first class ticket holders will travel at no extra cost and all economy travellers will have to pay extra on this faster service.
